Support The Wildlife Society COWCH Program

December 21st, 2009

As we are closing in on the end of the year – and the end of the decade – I want to thank you for your continued support and membership in The Wildlife Society.

TWS has had a very successful year thanks to dedicated members like you. As a valued member of TWS, you can continue to play a key role by supporting TWS in its efforts to document the evolution of the wildlife profession. Through a program called COWCH – Celebrating Our Wildlife Conservation Heritage – members of TWS are videotaping interviews with pioneers in wildlife conservation to capture the history of our profession through the voices of the people who shaped it.

COWCH will also be an important of TWS’s 75th Anniversary celebration, which includes the development of numerous historical documents.

We are asking loyal members like you to make a secure online donation and provide the seed funding necessary to move this program forward. Your support will help ensure that future generations have access to and knowledge of the key people who shaped our profession.

We greatly appreciate your support and your contribution will be recognized on the COWCH section of our website as well as in our Annual Report.

Happy Holidays!

Bruce Leopold
President of The Wildlife Society

P.S. Your donation to the COWCH Program is 100% tax deductible.  Please donate online today.

Celebrating Our Wildlife Conservation Heritage

November 9th, 2009

The Celebrating Our Wildlife Conservation Heritage or COWCH was created with the goal of preserving the history and evolution of the wildlife profession by interviewing influential wildlife biologist, educators, managers, and other pioneers.

To date we have recorded more than 60 COWCH interviews with distinguished leaders in the wildlife profession including students of Aldo Leopold, charter members of TWS, Aldo Leopold Award winners, past-presidents of TWS, and other trail-blazers in wildlife management and conservation. These interviews—along with many more we hope to do—form a priceless record of the roots of our profession.
