Everybody’s talkin’ about the bird…Snowbird that is! Snowbird, Utah will play host to The Wildlife Society’s 17th Annual Conference taking place October 2-7, 2010. The new conference website has just been launched and will provide information on registration, hotel/travel, preliminary programs, booth sales, student programs, sponsorships and more. Registration will open in June and you’ll be happy to hear that rates have not increased for TWS members since 2008! This year, 15 workshops, 2 panel discussions and 17 symposia will take place at the Snowbird Conference Center and the Cliff Lodge; 8,000 ft. above sea level….how’s that for a memorable conference?
Paper and poster abstracts are currently being accepted and you can find this year’s topics on the conference website, www.wildlifesociety.org. Submission deadline is March 19, 2010.
Exhibitors, booths sold out early last year so don’t delay and miss the opportunity to market to the largest gathering of wildlife professionals and students in North America.
A student-friendly schedule is planned again for this year with all student-related events taking place Saturday to Tuesday. Don’t forget to bring your suit for the career fair and party shirt for the mixer. The Quiz bowl will prove which school can best demonstrate their wildlife knowledge so you students better start studying. The Texas A&M Student Chapter wanted to let everyone know that they plan to take top honors for the 2nd year in a row…are you going to let that happen?
We hope to see you in Snowbird for the 2010 Annual Conference where you’ll be surrounded by history, rugged mountains and abundant wildlife. New content will continue to be added to the conference website so be sure to check back often to get more word on the bird.

The Celebrating Our Wildlife Conservation Heritage or COWCH was created with the goal of preserving the history and evolution of the wildlife profession by interviewing influential wildlife biologist, educators, managers, and other pioneers.
To date we have recorded more than 60 COWCH interviews with distinguished leaders in the wildlife profession including students of Aldo Leopold, charter members of TWS, Aldo Leopold Award winners, past-presidents of TWS, and other trail-blazers in wildlife management and conservation. These interviews—along with many more we hope to do—form a priceless record of the roots of our profession.
