Hi all,
This is a call for proposals for biometrics sessions for the 2014 TWS meeting in Pittsburgh, PA (October 25-30, 2014). Current options for sessions include workshops, symposia, breakfast roundtables, panel discussions, and special poster sessions.
Please consider submitting a 1-2 page proposal describing your idea. The proposal should include a brief introduction discussing the importance of the topic, a short description of the session, a list of potential speakers and topics, and a budget.
The budget for your proposed session should include fees charged and funds requested from BWG. For workshops, please factor in the fee that TWS collects for each workshop participant ($25/professional registration and $10/student registration). Keep in mind that BWG cannot provide fees for speakers and that fees charged for our workshops fund scholarships for students and other BWG activities. The fees charged for breakfast roundtables ($25) covers breakfast only, so if proposers wanted to generate funds for BWG from this type of session, the fee would have to be raised accordingly (I'm not aware of any instances when this has been done in the past).
Please send your proposals to Andrea Litt (andrea.litt at montana.edu) by August 2 so the information can be included in the fall BWG newsletter and the membership can discuss and vote at the annual business meeting in Milwaukee in October.
We have a great slate of BWG-sponsored events for the 2013 TWS meeting in Milwaukee including 3 symposia (Thinking Outside the Quadrat: Advances in Aerial Sampling to Estimate Abundance of Terrestrial Wildlife, Multimodel Inference: Trends and Future Directions, Repurposing Data: Opportunities and Challenges for Alternative Uses of Online Survey Data).
Thanks!
Andrea
