Abstract:
Historical data indicating the magnitude of the California salmon population are presented. Environmental factors affecting the fresh-water portion of the salmon's life cycle are discussed in an attempt to determine the factor having the most impact. Measures being employed and those needed to assure continued salmon population are presented. No single activity of man can be blamed for the decline in salmon populations over the past century, but all of man's activities which affect the fresh-water environment must share the indictment.
