Abstract:
Since the intensive trapping program (1966-1970) maintained in San Diego County for the removal of rabies vector species, information has been desired by wildlife agencies to assess vector species population-levels for future assistance in predator management programs. The objectives for the development of a coyote population dynamics model are discussed. These include: a census method, population structure determination and an estimation of movement and activity parameters. Four telemetry systems were evaluated for their use in wildlife studies with special reference to coyote investigations.
