Instream flow requirements for fish were determined for Dinkey Creek in 1979, using methodology developed by the Cooperative Instream Flow Service Group of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The information was needed to establish minimum flow releases from a postponed hydroelectric project on Dinkey Creek. Estimates of habitat available for brown and rainbow trout at several life stages and evaluation of natural flows in Dinkey Creek provided the opportunity to predict flows necessary to maintain trout populations at historical levels.
