Abstract:
The status of anadromous fish resources in small coastal rivers is examined for the periods of 1900-1940, 1940-1980, and 1980-2020 in the Southern, Central and Northern areas of California. Declining trends are perceived in all areas ranging from annihilation in the Southern and San Francisco Bay areas to partial retention in the Northern sector. Principal causes for the decline are briefly covered along with proposed solutions to the present dilemma.
